Quaestor Wealth Care was a key part of the Quaestor Group, a Hungarian conglomerate founded in 1990. The company specialized in providing wealth management, investment advice, and securities trading services primarily to Hungarian clients. In March 2015, the firm became the center of one of Hungary's largest-ever financial scandals when it was discovered that it had sold approximately 150 billion forints (around €500 million) worth of fictitious or unauthorized bonds. The subsequent investigation by the National Bank of Hungary led to the immediate suspension of its license, the collapse of the entire Quaestor Group, and criminal proceedings against its leadership for large-scale fraud and embezzlement.
