NuCypher was a decentralized network offering cryptographic infrastructure and privacy-preserving services for decentralized applications (dApps). Its core service was Proxy Re-Encryption (PRE), which allowed data owners to delegate decryption rights to other users without revealing their own private keys. The mission was to provide a secure and private data layer for Web3. In 2021, NuCypher and the Keep Network initiated the first-ever on-chain merger of two decentralized networks, combining their protocols and communities to form the Threshold Network. The Threshold Network continues and expands upon the original missions of both projects.
