Originally founded as the University Scholarship Fund of Canada in 1965, the organization became Knowledge First Financial, a prominent not-for-profit provider of Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs) in Canada. Its mission is to empower and assist Canadian families in saving for post-secondary education. In 2022, Knowledge First Financial and its parent, the Knowledge First Foundation, began operating under the new brand name Embark Student Corp. to better reflect their expanded services, which include student loans and other resources beyond just RESPs. The company remains one of Canada's largest RESP providers, managing funds for hundreds of thousands of students.
