The Institute for Portfolio Alternatives (IPA) is a trade association for the non-listed alternative investment industry. Founded in 1985 as the Investment Program Association, it rebranded in 2017 to its current name. The IPA's mission is to raise awareness of portfolio diversifying investment (PDI) products, such as non-listed REITs, BDCs, and private equity, among stakeholders like investment advisors, public policymakers, and the investing public. It provides advocacy, education, and networking opportunities to support increased access to these investment strategies.
