IEX
Information by Research TrustFinance
IEX (Investors Exchange) is a U.S. stock exchange founded with the mission to protect long-term investors from the predatory practices of high-frequency trading (HFT). Famously profiled in Michael Lewis's book "Flash Boys," IEX was created by a team of former trading and technology professionals. Its core innovation is the IEX "Speed Bump," a 350-microsecond delay deliberately built into its trading platform to neutralize the speed advantages of HFT firms. After operating as an alternative trading system (ATS), IEX received approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2016 to become a registered national securities exchange, dedicated to creating a more equitable and transparent market structure.
