Founded in 1983 as The Greater Richmond Area Scholarship Program, the organization was later renamed GReat Aspirations Scholarship Program, Inc. (GRASP) to reflect its statewide reach. GRASP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to helping students overcome financial barriers to continuing their education after high school. It provides free, confidential counseling and assistance to students and families in acquiring financial aid and scholarships, with a primary focus on helping them complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Advisors are placed in high schools and other community sites throughout Virginia to provide direct support.
