Fondul Proprietatea was established in 2005 to compensate Romanian citizens whose properties were abusively expropriated by the former communist regime. It operates as a closed-end fund, and its primary mission is to maximize returns and per-share value for its shareholders by managing a portfolio of leading Romanian companies, with a significant focus on the power and infrastructure sectors. Since 2010, the fund has been managed by Franklin Templeton International Services S.À R.L., bringing international expertise to the management of its assets. The Fund's shares have been listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange since 2011 and its Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs) have been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 2015.
