Founded in 2014, ERNIT's mission was to help families teach children the value of money in an increasingly cashless society. The company developed a physical, app-connected piggy bank that would light up and make sounds when money was added to a child's digital account. Through the app, children could set savings goals, and parents could set chores and allocate allowances, providing a tangible link between digital funds and real-world savings. Despite successful crowdfunding campaigns and raising venture capital, the company announced it was shutting down its operations in late 2018.
