Founded in 2008 as a spin-off from MBIA Inc., Cutwater Asset Management established itself as a specialized fixed-income asset manager. The firm provided investment advisory services to institutional clients, focusing on strategies across the duration and credit spectrum, including core, long-duration, high-yield, and liability-driven investing (LDI). In 2014, BNY Mellon acquired Cutwater to enhance its global fixed-income capabilities. Following the acquisition, Cutwater was integrated into Insight Investment, BNY Mellon's specialist asset management subsidiary, and ceased to operate as a separate brand.
