Chillr
Information by Research Trustfinance
Founded in 2014 by Sony Joy, Chillr was a pioneering fintech startup in India that provided one of the country's first multi-bank mobile payment apps. The platform enabled peer-to-peer (P2P) money transfers, utility bill payments, and mobile recharges using the IMPS and later the UPI platform, without needing to pre-load a digital wallet. The company partnered with several major Indian banks, including HDFC Bank and Axis Bank, to allow customers to transact directly from their bank accounts. In June 2018, Chillr was acquired by Truecaller to build out its digital payment service, Truecaller Pay. Following the acquisition, the Chillr app and brand were phased out as its team and technology were absorbed into Truecaller.
