Formed after the events of September 11, 2001, by leaders of Chicago's financial industry in partnership with the City of Chicago, ChicagoFIRST is a public-private partnership focused on business continuity and critical infrastructure protection. Its mission is to collaborate with public sector partners to enhance the resilience of the Chicago business community against all hazards, including physical and cyber threats. The organization facilitates information sharing, conducts emergency preparedness exercises, and provides risk mitigation strategies for its members, who primarily come from the financial services, energy, retail, telecommunications, and real estate sectors.
