Originally founded as a savings bank (caja de ahorros), CajaSur has a long history in the Andalusia region of Spain. Following the Spanish financial crisis, it was acquired by Bilbao Bizkaia Kutxa (BBK) in 2010 and subsequently integrated into the Kutxabank Group in 2011.
