Originally chartered in 1954 as the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Federal Credit Union, the organization rebranded to Breakwater Federal Credit Union in 2021. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, it is owned and operated by its members. Its mission is to be a trusted financial partner, offering a range of services including savings and checking accounts, loans, and credit cards. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Dickinson, Iron, or Menominee Counties, Michigan, or Florence County, Wisconsin.
