Originally established in 2007 as Berendina Microfinance Institute, the company transitioned into a Licensed Finance Company (LFC) in May 2021, regulated by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. As Berendina Micro Investments Company Limited (BMIC), its core mission is poverty alleviation through sustainable and responsible financial services. BMIC focuses on empowering underserved populations, particularly in rural areas, by providing access to credit, savings, and other financial products designed to foster entrepreneurship and improve livelihoods.
