Bee Diseases Insurance Ltd (BDI) is a specialized, non-profit insurance company that has been operating since the 1940s. Run largely by volunteer beekeepers, its mission is to provide affordable insurance cover for beekeepers in England, Wales, and Scotland. The insurance protects members against the financial loss of their bees and equipment should they be subject to a statutory destruction order due to infection with a notifiable disease, such as American Foulbrood (AFB) or European Foulbrood (EFB).
