The Accredited Standards Committee X9, Inc. (ASC X9) is a U.S.-based, non-profit standards developing organization serving the financial services industry. Accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), X9's mission is to create and maintain consensus-based standards that enhance the efficiency, security, and interoperability of financial transactions globally. Its members include leading banks, credit unions, payment processors, hardware manufacturers, and software developers who collaborate to develop standards for areas such as check processing, electronic payments (including real-time payments), cybersecurity, and data security. X9 also serves as the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee 68 (ISO TC68) on Financial Services.
