American International Group, Inc. (AIG) is a multinational finance and insurance corporation with operations in more than 70 countries and jurisdictions. Founded in 1919 in Shanghai, China, AIG has grown to become one of the world's largest insurers. The company provides a vast array of products and services, including commercial and personal insurance, as well as life insurance and retirement solutions for both individuals and institutions. In 2022, AIG executed a major strategic shift by spinning off a significant portion of its Life and Retirement business into a new, independent public company named Corebridge Financial, Inc., in which AIG still maintains a majority stake. AIG continues to offer life insurance products to consumers through its various channels and subsidiary carriers.
