UBI Banca was one of Italy's largest and most important banking groups, formed in 2007 through the merger of BPU Banca (Banche Popolari Unite) and Banca Lombarda e Piemontese. Headquartered in Bergamo, it served millions of customers through an extensive network of branches, primarily in Northern Italy. The bank's operations covered retail and commercial banking, corporate finance, wealth and asset management, and insurance services. In 2020, Intesa Sanpaolo launched a successful takeover bid, and the full legal and operational merger of UBI Banca into the Intesa Sanpaolo Group was completed in April 2021. All former UBI Banca operations now continue under the Intesa Sanpaolo brand.
