Founded in 2015 by Thomas Pilar and Christian Wiesner, TopCheck operated as an online comparison portal in Nigeria. The platform allowed users to compare prices and features of financial products, such as car insurance, from various providers to find the best deals. The company aimed to bring transparency to Nigeria's financial services market. In 2017, TopCheck was acquired by the investment firm Silvertree Internet Holdings and was subsequently merged with a similar South African platform to form the pan-African entity, Compare Africa Group.
