Founded in 2003, the Société Royale d'Encouragement du Cheval (SOREC) is a public company under the supervision of the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests. Its mission is to develop and modernize the entire equine sector in Morocco. This includes supervising and improving horse breeding, managing national stud farms, organizing horse races, and operating the national network for horse race betting and gaming, which serves as the primary funding mechanism for the industry.
