Established in October 2002 under the approval of the State Council and organized by the People's Bank of China (PBOC), the Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) is a non-profit, self-regulating marketplace. It is the core of China's gold market and the hub for precious metals trading, providing a platform for trading, clearing, delivery, and vaulting services for gold, silver, and platinum. In 2014, the SGE launched its International Board to facilitate the participation of global investors in China's precious metals market, further integrating it into the global financial system.
