The company's mission was to attract talented individuals from outside traditional finance and identify profitable algorithms from its user base, which it would then fund with its own capital in a proprietary hedge fund. In November 2020, Quantopian announced it was shutting down its public platform and that its team and technology assets were being acquired by Robinhood.
