Founded in 1975 by physicians for physicians, MLMIC (formerly Medical Liability Mutual Insurance Company) has a long history of defending and protecting New York's medical community. It is the largest writer of medical professional liability insurance in New York State. In 2018, MLMIC converted from a mutual insurance company to a stock company and was acquired by National Indemnity Company, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. The company's mission is to provide high-quality insurance, comprehensive risk management programs, and aggressive defense of its policyholders.
