Founded in 2013, Make Space revolutionized the self-storage industry by introducing a "valet" or "full-service" storage model. Instead of customers renting a storage unit and moving items themselves, Make Space provides bins, picks up items directly from the customer's location, transports them to a secure storage facility, and creates a digital photo inventory. Customers can request the return of any or all of their items through the company's app or website, which are then delivered back to them. In 2021, Make Space was acquired by Public Storage, one of the largest self-storage companies in the world, and continues to operate under its brand name.
