Founded in 2015 by Camille Hearst and Naveen Selvadurai (co-founder of Foursquare), Kit was a platform designed to help online creators monetize their content. It enabled them to curate collections of recommended products, called "kits" (e.g., "My Vlogging Setup," "Best Skincare Products"), and share them via a single link. When followers purchased items through these kits, the creator would earn an affiliate commission. In June 2018, Patreon acquired Kit to integrate its e-commerce tools into Patreon's membership platform. The standalone Kit.com service was officially shut down in February 2020, and the kit.com domain now redirects to Patreon.
