The European Power Exchange (EPEX SPOT) is a central marketplace for short-term electricity trading in Central Western Europe, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the Nordics and Poland. Founded in 2008 through the merger of the French and German power spot exchanges, EPEX SPOT is a subsidiary of the EEX Group, which is part of Deutsche Börse. Its mission is to facilitate a liquid, efficient, and transparent power market by providing a platform for producers, suppliers, transmission system operators, and other energy trading companies to trade electricity, thereby ensuring a reliable price signal and contributing to a secure and sustainable energy supply.
