Established on October 2nd, 1958, the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) is an apex body of marketing cooperatives in India. Its primary mission is to promote cooperative marketing of agricultural products to ensure farmers receive remunerative prices. NAFED's activities include the procurement of oilseeds and pulses under the Price Support Scheme (PSS), management of buffer stocks for the government, domestic and international trade of agricultural commodities, and providing support to farmers through the distribution of seeds, bio-fertilizers, and other agricultural machinery.
