WIRI NZ LIMITED was a technology company in New Zealand that developed and launched the Wiri digital wallet in 2015. The application allowed users to store their credit and debit card information on their smartphones for contactless payments. Wiri was a key technology partner in the "Semble" mobile wallet, a high-profile joint venture between New Zealand's major mobile network operators (Vodafone, 2degrees, Spark) and the payment network Paymark. Despite the significant backing, the Semble service failed to achieve widespread adoption and was shut down in 2016. Consequently, WIRI NZ LIMITED ceased operations and was officially removed from the New Zealand Companies Register on May 19, 2017.
