Founded in 1892, WGZ BANK (Westdeutsche Genossenschafts-Zentralbank) served as the central bank and specialized service provider for the network of Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken in its regional jurisdiction. It offered a wide range of services including corporate finance, capital markets, private banking, and asset management, supporting its member banks and their clients. In August 2016, WGZ BANK merged with DZ BANK AG to create a stronger, unified central institution for Germany's entire cooperative financial network, now operating under the name DZ BANK AG.
