Originally founded as a local cooperative bank, Volksbank Westerkappeln-Saerbeck eG operated under the cooperative principle of providing financial services to its members and the communities of Westerkappeln and Saerbeck in Germany. Its business focused on retail and business banking, including accounts, loans, investments, and advisory services. In 2021, the bank merged with Volksbank Westerkappeln-Wersen eG and others to form the new, larger entity VR-Bank Kreis Steinfurt eG. This successor institution continues the mission of serving the entire district of Steinfurt as a member-owned regional bank.
