Founded in 1864, Union Bank, N.A. operated as a major U.S. commercial bank, primarily on the West Coast. It was a subsidiary of the Japanese financial group Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG). The bank offered a comprehensive suite of services including retail and commercial banking, wealth management, and trust and investment services. In December 2021, U.S. Bancorp announced its acquisition of Union Bank's core retail banking operations from MUFG. The acquisition was completed in December 2022, and the full systems conversion and rebranding of all Union Bank branches to U.S. Bank were finalized in May 2023.
