Founded in 2005, Ukash was a prominent prepaid online payment method operated by Smart Voucher Limited. Its core service enabled consumers, particularly those without access to traditional banking or credit cards, to pay for goods and services online safely and anonymously. Customers would purchase a voucher with cash at physical retail locations and receive a unique 19-digit code, which could then be entered on websites that accepted Ukash. In 2015, the brand and technology were acquired by Skrill Group, which integrated the service into its own prepaid voucher system, Paysafecard. The Ukash brand was officially discontinued by October 31, 2015, and the parent company, Smart Voucher Limited, was subsequently dissolved.
