Founded in 1914, The Swett & Crawford Group grew to become one of the largest and most respected wholesale insurance brokers in the United States. The company specialized in providing retail insurance agents and brokers with access to specialty insurance markets and expertise for complex, high-risk placements. In 2015, the firm was acquired by BB&T Corporation (now Truist Financial) and was subsequently merged with BB&T's existing wholesale insurance operations to form what is now known as CRC Group, a leading wholesale and specialty insurance distributor in North America.
