The Financial Store in association with H&R Block
Information by Research TrustFinance
"The Financial Store" was a retail initiative launched by H&R Block in the early 2000s to expand beyond tax preparation into broader financial services. Operated by its broker-dealer subsidiary, H&R Block Financial Advisors, Inc., these stores were physical locations, often co-located with tax offices, aiming to provide financial advice, investment products (such as mutual funds and annuities), and retirement planning to H&R Block's large base of middle-income tax clients. The business model proved unprofitable, and H&R Block announced the closure of the stores in 2005. The parent subsidiary, H&R Block Financial Advisors, was subsequently sold to Ameriprise Financial in 2008.
