Originally chartered in 1951 as the Bowie County Teachers Federal Credit Union, TEXAR Federal Credit Union has since grown to serve a wider community. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, it is owned and operated by its members. Instead of generating profits for stockholders, it returns earnings to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings yields, and improved services. The credit union offers a comprehensive suite of financial products, including personal and business checking/savings accounts, auto loans, mortgages, credit cards, and investment services.
