Founded by Joselito Lizarondo, Swipe was a financial technology company that enabled users to buy, sell, and spend a wide range of cryptocurrencies. Its flagship products were the Swipe Wallet and the Swipe Visa Debit Card, which allowed for real-time conversion of crypto to fiat currency at the point of sale. The platform was powered by its native utility token, SXP, which was used for transaction fees, staking, and earning rewards. In July 2020, leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance acquired a majority stake in Swipe, and by December 2021, it acquired the remaining shares. Following the acquisition, the project and its SXP token were rebranded to "Solar", an open-source, community-governed blockchain project.
