Chartered in 1956, Straits Area Federal Credit Union (SAFCU) was originally established to serve the employees of the United States Steel Corporation’s Michigan Limestone Operations. As a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution, its mission is to provide its members with a full range of personal financial services at fair and reasonable rates while maintaining long-term financial stability. Today, SAFCU offers checking and savings accounts, various loan products including auto, mortgage, and personal loans, and other modern banking services to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school within its designated service area.
