Founded in 1922 to serve telephone workers and their families, Southern Mass Credit Union (SMCU) has since grown into a community-chartered credit union. As a not-for-profit cooperative, its mission is to provide its members with a full range of competitive financial products and services, including personal and business banking, loans, and mortgages. Profits are returned to members in the form of lower loan rates, higher savings rates, and fewer fees. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Bristol, Plymouth, Norfolk, or Barnstable County, Massachusetts.
