Snips
Information by Research TrustFinance
Founded in 2013 by Rand Hindi, Maël Primet, and Michael Fester, Snips specialized in creating an end-to-end voice recognition platform that ran directly on devices, without needing to send user data to the cloud. This "private-by-design" approach was its key differentiator, focusing on user privacy in the AI assistant market. The company provided tools for developers and businesses to integrate customizable voice assistants into their products. In November 2019, Snips was acquired by the consumer electronics company Sonos for approximately $37.5 million. Following the acquisition, Sonos integrated the Snips team and technology to enhance its own voice control experiences and subsequently shut down the public Snips platform.
