Seed Capital Assistance Facility (SCAF)
Information by Research TrustFinance
The Seed Capital Assistance Facility (SCAF) is a program managed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB). Its mission is to catalyze private sector investment in clean energy by providing seed financing and technical assistance to early-stage renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. By offering crucial, high-risk, early-stage support, SCAF helps developers overcome initial financial hurdles, making their projects more attractive to mainstream investors and financiers to achieve bankability. The facility has operated in several phases, with the current phase, SCAF III, continuing its focus on supporting a portfolio of innovative, low-carbon enterprises in developing countries.
