Founded in 1842, Savings Institute Bank & Trust was a full-service community bank headquartered in Willimantic, Connecticut. For over 175 years, it served individuals, businesses, and municipalities throughout eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island. The bank's mission was to provide high-quality financial services and products while remaining committed to its local communities. In December 2018, its parent company, SI Financial Group, Inc., announced a definitive merger agreement with Berkshire Hills Bancorp, Inc. The merger was completed in 2019, and all Savings Institute Bank & Trust branches and operations were subsequently rebranded and integrated into Berkshire Bank.
