Originally established in 1995 as Russian Commercial Bank (Cyprus) Limited, RCB Bank grew to become one of Cyprus's significant financial institutions, supervised by the European Central Bank. The bank focused on serving corporate, institutional, and high-net-worth international clients. In 2022, following major geopolitical events and its historical ties to Russia's VTB Bank, RCB announced it would wind down its banking operations and transform its business model. The bank has since sold a significant portion of its loan portfolio and is transitioning into RCB Financial Group Ltd, a regulated asset management company.
