The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) was established in 1993 to succeed the Qatar Monetary Agency. Its primary mission is to maintain the stability of the Qatari Riyal and ensure its free convertibility, in addition to acting as the banker to the government. The QCB is responsible for formulating and implementing Qatar's monetary and credit policies, managing the country's reserves of gold and foreign exchange, and supervising all financial institutions operating within the state to foster a safe and efficient financial system.
