Founded in 1993 as Polaris Software Lab, the company grew to become a major player in the financial technology (FinTech) space. Headquartered in Chennai, India, Polaris specialized in developing a comprehensive suite of software solutions covering core banking, corporate banking, wealth and asset management, and insurance. Its flagship product line, Intellect Design Arena, was eventually demerged into a separate listed company. Polaris's mission was to be a digital transformation partner for financial institutions globally. In 2016, US-based IT services company Virtusa Corporation acquired a majority stake in Polaris, and the company was subsequently integrated and rebranded, ceasing to exist as an independent entity.
