Originally chartered in 1961 as the West-Cab Federal Credit Union to serve employees of West-Penn Power, the institution has since expanded its charter to serve the broader community. In 2017, it rebranded to Platinum One Federal Credit Union to better reflect its diverse membership. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, its mission is to provide its members with competitive rates and personalized financial services, including savings accounts, checking accounts, personal loans, auto loans, and mortgages, returning profits to members in the form of lower loan rates and higher savings yields.
