The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) was established by the Government of India on 23rd August 2003 to develop and regulate the pension sector in the country. It was made a statutory body under the PFRDA Act, 2013. The Authority's primary mission is to protect the interests of subscribers to pension fund schemes, promote old-age income security, and ensure the orderly growth of the pension market by regulating pension funds and the National Pension System (NPS).
