The company's platform enabled consumers to make secure online payments directly from their bank accounts without using credit cards, effectively creating a "Pay by Bank" option for merchants. In 2019, Paywithmybank was acquired by the Swedish fintech company Trustly Group AB, a global leader in Open Banking payments. The Paywithmybank technology and team have since been fully integrated into Trustly's global network, now operating under the Trustly brand to provide A2A payment solutions in North America and Europe.
