It consolidated the responsibilities of Bacs Payment Schemes Limited, Cheque and Credit Clearing Company, and Faster Payments Scheme into a single, integrated authority. As a not-for-profit company, its mission is to enable a vibrant UK economy by delivering best-in-class payment infrastructure and standards for the benefit of consumers and businesses. Pay.UK is responsible for the rules, standards, and security of these critical systems, which process trillions of pounds worth of payments every year.
