Founded in 2012, Payleven was a mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) provider that enabled small and medium-sized businesses to accept credit and debit card payments using their smartphones or tablets. The company offered a compact and affordable card reader that connected to a mobile device via Bluetooth, operating as a direct competitor to services like iZettle and SumUp. In April 2016, Payleven merged with its rival SumUp to create a dominant force in the European mPOS market. Following the merger, the Payleven brand, products, and customer base were gradually absorbed into the SumUp ecosystem.
