The Indonesia Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan - OJK) is an independent state institution established under Law Number 21 of 2011. Its primary mission is to ensure that all activities within the financial services sector are conducted in an organized, fair, transparent, and accountable manner, while also protecting the interests of consumers and the public. OJK's authority covers the regulation and supervision of the banking industry, capital markets, and non-bank financial industries, including insurance, pension funds, financing institutions, and other financial service entities. It officially began its regulatory functions on December 31, 2012, taking over responsibilities from the Capital Market and Financial Institution Supervisory Agency (Bapepam-LK) and subsequently the banking supervision from Bank Indonesia in 2013.
